The Democrats can rest easy tonight, knowing that George Soros isn’t the only billionaire who will be funding the radical leftist groups who keep them in power. If you’re a group pushing for taxpayers to fix global climate change or a group whose sole purpose is to help women based solely on the color of their skin, the ex-wife of Jeff Bezos, Amazon founder and CEO, and owner of the anti-Trump Washington Post, also has your back.
The Hill reports – MacKenzie Scott, the ex-wife of the Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos, announced on Tuesday that she has donated roughly $1.7 billion to nonprofit groups dedicated to causes including racial justice, LGBT rights, and public health.
Scott, who said she changed her surname following her divorce from the world’s richest man, wrote in a post shared on Medium that the donations are part of an effort to make good on her pledge from last year to donate the majority of her wealth “back to the society that helped generate it.” Scott’s net worth is currently $60.4 billion, making her the 13th-wealthiest person on the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.
MacKenzie Scott writes about her donations on Medium – “Like many, I watched the first half of 2020 with a mixture of heartbreak and horror,” Scott wrote. “Life will never stop finding fresh ways to expose inequities in our systems, or waking us up to the fact that a civilization this imbalanced is not only unjust but also unstable. What fills me with hope is the thought of what will come if each of us reflects on what we can offer.”
The organizations named below offer a daily reminder that we can each carry more than we imagine. And they offer an opportunity to invest our good fortune in change, no matter what form our good fortune has taken.
I’ll highlight more as my giving continues in the months and years to come.
Here’s the list of groups Bezos’ ex has donated to (so far):
The list includes the Barack Obama Foundation and for those of you who wonder if the Bush’s have taken a left turn, the George W. Bush Presidential Center also made Scott’s list.
