This afternoon, during her press conference, Nancy Pelosi was asked about the police reform bill they’re currently working on in Congress.
Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) was speaking to the media when she told them how proud she is of being asked George Floyd’s family to name the police reform bill after him. She relayed a conversation she had with a member of George Floyd’s family, “Speaker, do you think I can tell George’s daughter that his name will always be remembered because you’ll name the bill for him?”
Pelosi, struggled to remember the name of the Congressional Black Caucus, but it finally came to her, as she explained, “And I said, well, I’ll recommend that to the Judiciary Committee and to the uh—to the Congressional Black Caucus who shaped the bill,” adding, “But I will only do that if you tell me that this legislation is worthy of George Kirby’s name?”
“And he said it is, so we’re very proud,” Nancy said, without even recognizing that she just said that she’d name the bill after someone whose name isn’t even close to George Floyd’s.
