According to a report from Tucker Carlson and the Washington Examiner the step-mother of the former Atlanta police officer who is charged for the fatal shooting of Rayshard Brooks was fired last week, apparently for the crime of being the ex-officers step-mother.
Via the Washington Examiner:
Fox News host Tucker Carlson reported the stepmother of the former Atlanta police officer charged with fatally shooting Rayshard Brooks last week has been fired from her job.
Carlson said a “source familiar with the matter” told his show that Melissa Rolfe, the stepmother of Garrett Rolfe, was let go from an Atlanta-based company called Equity Prime Mortgage, where she had been human resources director.
“Rolfe was promised that her job was safe, but today she was told, and we’re quoting, ‘We have to terminate our relationship with you.’ No other explanation was offered,” he said.
Carlson said, “apparently,” her “only crime was being officer Rolfe’s stepmother.” He noted that Rolfe has been scrubbed from the company’s website.
The Washington Examiner checked, and she does not appear on the website’s leadership page. But, using the Wayback Machine, the Washington Examiner did find her listed as recently as May.

Hours after this report came out the company, Equity Prime Mortgage, issued a statement on Twitter denying that the former officer’s step-mom was fired as a result of the shooting:

While not certain, my guess is that Melissa Rolfe was let go because her public support of her son and law enforcement made for an “uncomfortable work environment.”
Many on Twitter were totally unimpressed with the company’s statement denying anything fishy occurred.
Translation: we had hotheaded employees who unfairly judged her son, she tried to defend him, they called her a racist, so we had to part ways.

Again, my guess is something like what was described in the tweet above is exactly what happened.

Equity Prime Mortgage has two main worries at this point. One that Ms. Rolfe is going to sue them into oblivion and second massive brand destruction as a result of their now very public actions.

The city of Atlanta and Equity Prime Mortgage better lawyer up, as they’re both about to get hit with with massive lawsuits.
