New York’s Governor Cuomo Tries To Blame Trump For Shortages, But Look What We Found … NYC Cut 20,000 Hospital Beds In Last 20 Years

Lawrence David| OPINION| New York Governor Andrew Cuomo is proving to be quite the self-aggrandizing whiner who is happy to place the blame for his state’s shortages everywhere but where it belongs.

That’s probably why progressives love him.

That and this:

Progressives demand cradle-to-grave protections from any responsibility for their own needs. Disney warned us about in their early cartoons:

Cuomo’s constant criticism of President Trump has been scoring points with progressives who are looking for a presidential challenger other than the cognitively impaired Joe Biden. To progressives, Cuomo’s whining is music to their ears.

Gov. Cuomo, with an immediate need for 400 ventilators, cried to reporters that he needed 30,000 ventilators.

Gov. Cuomo: FEMA says they’re sending 400 ventilators. Really? What am I going to do with 400 ventilators when I need 30,000? You pick the 26,000 people who are going to die because you only sent 400 ventilators!

It was reported earlier that in 2015, Cuomo’s spending priorities – likely to fund the cost of the sanctuary policies that he supported – caused him to ignore the New York State Department of Health’s call for building a stockpile of 16,000 ventilators.

Now we learn that New York slashed a staggering 20,000 hospital beds over the last 20 years. Cuomo has been the state’s governor since January 2011.

(New York Post) New York has lost a staggering 20,000 hospital beds over the last two decades to budget cuts and insurance overhauls, complicating local and state efforts to battle the coronavirus, according to records and experts.

The Empire State had 73,931 licensed hospital beds in 2000 before years of cuts and closures shrank the number to just 53,000 in 2020, according to records obtained by the New York State Nurses Association from the state Health Department and stats provided by officials.

What is Cuomo whining about now?

Gov. Cuomo: “Right now, in New York specifically, the rate of the curve suggests that in 45 days we could have up to an input of people who need 110,000 beds that compares to our current capacity of 53,000 beds, 37,000 ICU units, ventilators, which compares to a capacity currently of 3,000 ventilators…”

All of this plays well with the self-entitled class who would rather trash Trump than bother to understand their local government and their governor’s responsibility…

Are you beginning to notice a pattern here. After progressives spend our tax dollars on largesse, they expect the rest of us to pay for their necessities.

From’s biological incident annex:

State, tribal, territorial, and local governments are primarily responsible for detecting and responding to disease outbreaks and implementing measures to minimize the health, social, and economic consequences of such an outbreak.

“HHS serves as the Federal Government’s primary agency for the public health and medical preparation and planning for and response to a biological terrorism attack or naturally occurring outbreak that results from either a known or novel pathogen, including an emerging infectious disease. State, local, and tribal governments are primarily responsible for detecting and responding to disease outbreaks and implementing measures to minimize the health, social, and economic consequences of such an outbreak.”

Imagine if we had a whiny complainer as our president…
