BREAKING: U.S. Jets Bomb ‘Iranian’ Targets After Rocket Strikes At Base Killing 2 American Soldiers

Chris “Badger” Thomas RIGHT WING TRIBUNEOPINION

BREAKING – US aircraft bombed five “Iranian” targets in Iraq, in retaliation for the earlier deaths of two US service members and a British nurse in a rocket attack on Camp Taji near Baghdad, RT reports.

Multiple outlets reported the strikes, citing US officials speaking on condition of anonymity on Thursday afternoon – shortly after midnight Baghdad time. No information about the strikes or targets was offered. Earlier in the day, the Pentagon blamed the “Iran-backed” Iraqi Shia militias for Wednesday’s rocket strike, which killed three and wounded 14 more people. (more on that below)

The strikes were carried out by fighter jets, rather than missiles or drones, and targeted Kata’eb Hezbollah – one of the PMF militias that the US has blamed for attacks on its forces in Iraq –  according to an unnamed Pentagon official cited by Fox News.

US jets targeted five ammunition storage sites in what the official called “proportional response” against the militia.

Defense Secretary Mark Esper said earlier in the day that he was given the authority “to do what we need to do” from US President Donald Trump, without elaborating further, RT reported.

Yesterday we reported that at least 15 rockets struck Camp Taji, a coalition base housing U.S. troops in northern Baghdad, Iraq on Wednesday. Reports have indicated that two American and one British personnel were killed, American Military News reports.

Defense officials told the Associated Press that the three personnel considered of two U.S. troops and one British troop. Another U.S. official who spoke anonymously to the AP said as many as 30 rockets were fired at the base, 18 of which struck the base.

Combined Joint Task Force – Operation Inherence Resolve spokesman Col. Myles B. Caggins III confirmed the attack in a tweet, saying, “3 Coalition personnel were killed during a rocket attack on Camp Taji, March 11.”
“Approximately 12 additional personnel were wounded in the attack,” an OIR statement said. “Approximately 18 107mm Katyusha rockets struck the base. The Iraqi Security Forces found a rocket-rigged truck, a few miles from Camp Taji.”
Here we go again, another round with Iran and now we have fatalities and that means we must respond with kinetic superior force.  Mainstream media has not been covering the day-to-day that is going on with Iran and coalition forces but it has not settled down like people think.

At least 12 personnel were wounded during the attack, the statement added.

The attack was the largest on a U.S. base in Iraq since Iran fired ballistic missiles at bases housing U.S. troops in early January.

Defense Secretary Mark Esper said- “The United States will not tolerate attacks against our people, our interests, or our allies. As we have demonstrated in recent months, we will take any action necessary to protect our forces in Iraq and the region.”
