The tricky thing about pandering to special interests is that if you get it wrong, you become a joke. Just ask ‘Peter Pander’.
Pete Buttigieg went to Nevada for the next round of Democrat Primaries, and he broke out his Spanish to do it.
But maybe he should have practiced first.
Or maybe — and hear me out here — maybe he could have NOT taken time out to insert a gratuitous Spanish greeting into his speech to demonstrate his creds to special interests.
Maybe he could have made his appeal based on his ideas and credentials.
Right.
Here’s Pete’s unforced error:
Buttigieg attempts to pander to a Nevada crowd by speaking Spanish AT them, only to get ridiculed and laughed at when he forgets how, mid-sentence. pic.twitter.com/JEqPliNOyQ

And a quick sample of how the internet reacted:
Pandering is much cringe. https://t.co/5CqEwBKMLA

While we’re on the topic of pandering, somehow, we all missed this gem …
The only African American in attendance at this Pete Buttigieg town hall was a hired staffer that Pete made run around and hold the microphone for white questioners while kneeling with his head bowed. pic.twitter.com/R1ZquRFqQJ

If it were a Republican event where the only black guy present was hustling around with the mic, they’d all be crying ‘racism’.
But it’s the Democrats, so they get a pass.
