Get ready for the Left’s outrage: Trump planning major expansion of travel ban (think immigration enforcement)
By Jon Dougherty
(TNS) It has taken President Donald Trump most of his first three years in office to enact much of his immigration enforcement agenda, but he’s finally turned the corner and making progress.
One of his first efforts was to enact a travel ban from certain countries where terrorism was a major concern. On cue, Democrats and their Left-wing media allies became outraged, accused the president of “banning Muslims” while liberal groups took the administration to court.
Version three of the travel ban was okayed by the Supreme Court as lawful and constitutional, so now the president is prepared to not simply expound upon it but greatly expand it in a way that “will likely showcase his immigration enforcement agenda ahead of the 2020 election,” according to the Daily Caller.
So, get ready for more manufactured outrage, more allegations of racism and bigotry, and more gnashing of teeth and angry diatribes from Democrats and their Leftist mobs.
After the Supreme Court ruling, the president noted that his original order had nothing to do with skin color, ethnicity, or religious preference:
The Supreme Court has upheld the clear authority of the president to defend the national security of the United States. In this era of worldwide terrorism and extremist movements bent on harming innocent civilians, we must properly vet those coming into our country. This ruling is also a moment of profound vindication following months of hysterical commentary from the media and Democratic politicians who refuse to do what it takes to secure our border and our country.
In December 2018, following months of being called the most despicable names you can think of by Democrats who would never have put up with such behavior from Republicans when the god king Obama was in office, Trump added:
As long as I am president, I will defend the sovereignty, safety, and security of the American people, and fight for an immigration system that serves the national interests of the United States and its citizens.
And anyway, the countries the president listed were not all “Muslim-majority” nations: Syria, Iran, Libya, Yemen, Somalia, North Korea, and Venezuela.
According to The Daily Caller, the ban has been effective at keeping Americans safe:
The ban has done an immense job at blocking visitors from areas deemed unsafe. Officials denied nearly 40,000 visa applications in 2018 directly because of the travel ban, the State Department confirmed in 2019 — which earned the chagrin of immigrant rights activists. Should the administration move forward with an expansion, new court challenges would be expected.
The Wall Street Journal noted that Trump is considering adding the following countries to the current travel ban list: Belarus, Eritrea, Kyrgyzstan, Myanmar, Nigeria, Sudan, Tanzania.
So, aside from the countries that mostly white, we expect to see Democrats focus only on the three African countries while they accuse the president of blocking travel from “black-majority nations.”
