OPINION| Lawrence David| Except for his outstanding defense of Brett Kavanaugh, Senator Lindsey Graham R-SC), Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, has a reputation for over promising and under delivering.
Hopefully, this time he will over deliver.
After having previously invited President Trump’s personal attorney Rudy Giuliani to share what he’s learned about Ukraine’s corruption prior to the 2016 election, Senator Graham is now promising to open a broader investigation.
Last night Sen. Graham appeared with Sean Hannity where he outlined the case against former Vice President Joe Biden and then said he would ask Secretary of State Mike Pompeo for the transcripts of three calls VP Biden had with then-Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko.
WATCH:
Sen. Graham: “On September the 25th, 2015 the American ambassador to the Ukraine, Ambassador Pyatt made a speech about corruption and he wanted Shokin, then the General Prosecutor to be more aggressive.
“The one person he named as being a sleazebag was the president of Burisma [Holdings]. The one person that our ambassador mentioned in 2015, to be corrupt, was the president of the gas company.
“This same guy finally gets investigated by the prosecutor. Do they reward the prosecutor? No. They fired the guy within two months…
“… On February the second, the prosecutor raids the president’s house – of the gas company.
“On February the fourth he makes the public announcement and Hunter Biden [Vice President Biden’s son) call the State Department.
“On the 11th, the 18th, and the 19th of February Joe Biden calls the President of Ukraine [Poroshenko].
“About a month later they fire the prosecutor. This is the same guy that was urged to take action against the gas company president by the American ambassador in 2015.
WATCH:
“This doesn’t add up. What was that phone call about? Why would you want to fire the guy after he prosecuted the person you said was the dirtiest person in all of Ukraine?”
In response to a question from Sean, Sen. Graham then tells him he’s sending a letter to Secretary of State Mike Pompeo:
“I want to know are there any transcripts or readouts of the phone calls between the vice president and the president of Ukraine in February [2016] after the raid on the gas company president’s house,” said Graham. “After this raid, Hunter Biden kicks in.
Hunter Biden’s business partner meets with [then-Secretary of State] John Kerry, and Vice President Biden on three occasions makes a phone call to the president of Ukraine and goes over there in March and they fire the guy, and this is the same man that the ambassador wanted investigated in 2015.”
But, what happened here is that Hunter Biden was on the board [of Burisma] and that changed everything…”
Meanwhile, over at the Capitol, one Schiff witness claiming to be an expert on Ukraine after another, continue to claim that they had no knowledge of the corruption and that it’s all just a conspiracy theory.
But they’re experts… seriously. They told us so…
