A major manhunt is underway for two men suspected of murder who managed to escape a high-security California jail.

The two inmates were discovered missing during a morning inmate count. Officials later discovered their clothes outside the county jail.

“We need the public’s help to be on the lookout for two men who escaped the Monterey County Adult Detention Facility early this morning.

Fonseca is 5’7” and 150lbs. Salazar is 5’7 and 170lbs. Both are Hispanic with black hair and brown eyes. Both have been in custody since 2018.

An investigation is underway to determine their means of escape but, at this time, we can provide no details on that topic. Our focus, and resources, are dedicated to locating and returning Fonseca and Salazar to custody.

The last time someone managed to escape the facility was five years ago when an inmate climbed through a ventilation duct at the jail. He was later found and arrested, The Washington Examiner reports.

Fonseca had been charged with two counts of murder and attempted robbery and was being held on $2.25 million bail. Salazar was charged in July 2018 for a fatal shooting in October 2017.

Monterey County Undersheriff John Mineau described the moment they realized the men escaped: “In our morning inmate count, one of the deputies discovered that two of the inmates who should have been present in the dorm were gone. We’re still trying to figure out how they got to where they ended up outside.”

“We are offering a $5,000.00 reward on information that leads to the capture of these individuals,” the post read.

Stay safe out there patriots- these 2 animals are dangerous, desperate and are alleged killers.

We will update this story as more details emerge.
