President Donald Trump announced on Sunday that a U.S. military operation found Islamic State (ISIS) terror chief Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, who died after detonating a suicide vest, killing three of his children, Breitbart reports.

Trump told America in an early morning address that al-Baghdadi died like a “dog” and a “coward.”

Trump also paid tribute during his remarks to a brave and heroic canine that took part in the operation that killed the terrorist.

“A beautiful dog, a talented dog, was injured and brought back,” Trump said.

Additional details have emerged regarding the hero dog.

The hero dog — of the Belgian Malinois breed — is female, and her name is Conan, according to a report by Newsweek, which added that a senior Pentagon source clarified that she was named after the comedian Conan O’Brien — not the famed fictional character, Conan the Barbarian.

On Monday, President Donald Trump released a declassified photo of the military dog, and praised her for doing “such a GREAT JOB in capturing and killing the Leader of ISIS, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.”

The president said the dog was chasing Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi in a darkened tunnel and was hurt when a suicide vest was detonated.

“Last night the United States brought the world’s number one terrorist leader to justice.  He died like a dog. He died like a coward. The world is a much safer place.  Eight U.S. military helicopters descended on the compound housing al-Baghdadi, after “an hour and 10-minute” flight from an undisclosed location, (later reported to be Iraq). U.S. forces, blew holes into the side of the building, not wanting to go through the main door because that was booby-trapped.

Less than 100″U.S. troops were on the ground during the bloody mission,  the operation was aided by a “much bigger” behind-the-scenes presence of U.S. intelligence officials.

American service dogs chased al-Baghdadi down a dead-end tunnel where he detonated his device, killing himself and three children.

They brought body parts back with them, where U.S. commandos tested al-Baghdadi’s DNA in a matter of 15 minutes.

Our ‘K-9,’ as they call it,” I call it a dog. A beautiful dog — a talented dog — was injured and brought back.”

Baghdadi, the ISIS leader who had a $25 million bounty on his head, died on Saturday evening, October 26, after US-led special forces raided his compound in Idlib Province, where he was hiding along with members of his family and some close aides.

Trump, who watched the whole operation live from the White House Situation Room, said Baghdadi spent his final moments “crying, “whimpering” and “screaming” after being cornered by US forces along with the military dogs.

“The dog is fine and has returned to duty,” an unnamed U.S. official told Reuters White House correspondent Steve Holland.

“If they’re leading the patrol, they want a dog that is not only an explosive detection dog but on command can be aggressive,” said Aiello. “On a mission like this you want a dog that can be aggressive when necessary.”

“The injury to the dog is an injury to one of us. These dogs are a special breed of courageous,” one soldier assigned to Delta Force said.
