Two Obama judges have sided with House Dems demanding POTUS’ financial info: Why Trump will ultimately win
By JonDougherty
Over the past week, two federal judges — both of them appointed by the Left’s favorite president, Barack Obama — ruled last week that POTUS Donald Trump and his family must turn over years’ worth of financial records to angry House Democrats.
The reason? “Oversight.” Democrats are in charge of the House now, you see, and since Bob Mueller didn’t find any “Russian collusion” or real evidence of “obstruction,” Democrats are now going all out to try and find something, anything, they can hang around POTUS Trump’s neck to drive his support down so they can drive him from office.
What a mess our politics have become.
In any event, as we reported, the first judge to rule in favor of Dems, Amit Mehta, was a massive Obama supporter, as in, financially:
“Oh look, the Federal Judge who just ruled that President Trump must turn over his financial records to Congressional Dems, also just so happens to be an Obama-Biden donor. I’m sure one has nothing to do with the other though. Nothing to see here folks!”

Surprise! If the Left had not so distorted our system and it still functioned as designed, this hack judge would have recused himself because, obviously, he’s compromised. But he didn’t because the Left will take victory any way they can get it.
Mehta’s ruling was just the first. As Politico reported:
A federal judge … allowed the House to move ahead with subpoenas seeking years of President Donald Trump’s financial records from Deutsche Bank and Capital One, dealing the second blow in a matter of days to Trump’s legal strategy of stonewalling Democrats’ mounting investigations.
U.S. District Court Judge Edgardo Ramos rejected a request by Trump and his family to block the subpoenas issued by Democrats on the House Financial Services and Intelligence committees. The subpoenas seek documents including tax returns, evidence of suspicious activity and, in the case of Deutsche Bank, any internal communications regarding Trump and his ties to foreign individuals.
Trump will challenge the ruling. “We will be filing a timely appeal with the Second Circuit,” said Jay Sekulow, a personal attorney for the president.
The ruling by Ramos, an Obama appointee, followed a landmark decision on Monday by another federal judge, Amit Mehta, who said the House Oversight Committee could proceed with a subpoena of Trump records held by accounting firm Mazars USA. Trump is appealing that ruling as well.
It’s good that the president is appealing. He should; it’s not just his business records he’s trying to keep from being exposed/leaked by the pathetic Democrats who would rather play political circus games than actually legislate. It’s the Executive Branch he’s trying to protect.
But when all of the dust settles and these cases make their way to the Supreme Court, as is likely, the president has all of the constitutional cards on his side, as it were.
Yes, the House has subpoena power, but there is nothing in the Constitution giving the Legislative Branch the power to extort the head of the Executive Branch for records of any kind. And since the Constitution, not Jerrold Nadler and Maxine Waters, is the final word on presidential requirements, we don’t expect New York State’s BS law requiring all presidential candidates to reveal their tax returns before they can be on the ballot to withstand a Supreme Court challenge, either.
“The Democrats are hurling anything and everything against the wall to see what sticks. They promised their base an impeachment fight or at least a lurch towards it, and that chance to make a legitimate case was killed when Robert Mueller said no collision occurred between the Trump team and the Kremlin,” notes Matt Vespa at TownHall.
No question about it. But should Democrats succeed here and the president is forced to reveal personal financial information that has nothing at all to do with anything, it will prove once again that Democrats overreach when they are angry, and their next president (God forbid there is one) will be subjected to the same treatment by Republicans.
Meanwhile, the Independent voters who decide most elections these days are watching this Democrat clown show with an eye towards the 2020 elections. And the trends are looking good for the president.
