POTUS Trump wants AG Barr to look at ties to Spygate from Ukraine, the UK, and Australia: ‘Somebody has to get to the bottom of it’

Attorney General William Barr’s investigation into the origins of the “Spygate” scandal is about to get global, and it’s going to involve some embarrassing moments for some long-time allies of the United States.
On Friday, during a short interaction with reporters before departing on Marine One during the first leg of his journey to meet with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, POTUS Donald Trump noted that he has empowered Barr to look into Spygate ties that either originate or extend to Britain, Australia, and Ukraine.
“For over a year, people have asked me to declassify. What I’ve done is declassified everything,” said Trump, adding “He can look and I hope he looks at the UK and I hope he looks at Australia and I hope he looks at Ukraine,” the president said.
“It’s the greatest hoax probably in the history of our country and somebody has to get to the bottom of it. We’ll see. For a long period of time, they wanted me to declassify and I did,” he added.

“This is about finding out what happened,” said Trump. “What happened and when did it happen, because this was an attempted takedown of the president of the United States, and we have to find out why.”
“We’re exposing everything. We’re being a word that you like, transparent. We’re being, ultimately we’re being transparent. That’s what it’s about. Again, this should never ever happen in our country again.”
After Democrats were ‘disappointed’ by the Mueller report, which officially ‘cleared’ the president of any “Russian collusion” — because there was never any, since it was a fabrication of the deep state — he ‘left for Congress to decide’ whether the president had obstructed justice, itself nonsensical given that Robert Mueller and his team were provided everything they requested from the White House and were never impeded in any way.
So, Democrats latched onto that ‘obstruction’ thing while Republicans turned to the origins of the hoax.
Ukraine isn’t an ‘ally,’ per se, and certainly not in the “Five Eyes” sense, FVEY being the U.S., Canada, Britain, Australia, and New Zealand — five countries that share intelligence information between each other. Often, it’s been said that this arrangement has been utilized by each government to, shall we say, ‘bypass’ domestic spying restrictions.
That is almost certainly what happened when it came to spying on the 2016 Trump Team. Recall:
— Christopher Steele, the author of the infamous “Steele dossier,” was likely still associated with British intelligence (MI6) when he was tapped by Fusion GPS and the Hillary Clinton campaign to compile his garbage ‘intel’ assessment.
— According to report earlier this month, fired FBI Director James Comey, in stating that then-CIA Director John Brennan was the one who insisted that the dossier be included in materials briefed to President-elect Trump, called it “crown material” — was that a reference to the British Crown?
— We know that the Brits were involved in Spygate to some extent. In June 2018, we reported that both British and U.S. intelligence assets were involved in Spygate. Citing our own sourcing and an exclusive report from The Gateway Pundit from investigative reporter Cassandra Fairbanks, three former U.S. intelligence officials noted:
The U.K.’s Joint Intelligence Committee was the venue used by the CIA and the DNI to share and receive “intelligence” allegedly linking Trump to Russia.
The sources believe that John Brennan and James Clapper used highly classified intelligence channels to create a trail of fake evidence linking Trump to Russia.
George Papadopoulos was targeted deliberately by U.K. intel operatives in a plot to trick him.
It was Joseph Mifsud, not Papadopoulos, who raised the prospect of meeting with the Russians and introduced the claim that Russia had damaging information about Hillary Clinton.
Joseph Mifsud was a British operative, not a Russian asset.
The only entity that could have coordinated the entire operation was the Obama White House.
She added:
Multiple former intelligence officers believe there is indisputable evidence that British Intelligence organizations—GCHQ and MI6 in particular—collaborated with the U.S. intelligence community to portray Donald Trump and his associates as pawns of the Russians.
One intelligence official said clearly, “This was a coup attempt without firearms; relying instead on manufactured intelligence designed to feed the meme that Trump surrogates were in contact with the Russians.”
Another key passage:
The former intelligence officers agreed that the U.K.’s Joint Intelligence Committee was the venue used by the CIA and the DNI to share and receive “intelligence” allegedly linking Trump to Russia.
— As for the Australian connection, then-House Intelligence Committee chairman Devin Nunes told Fox Business‘ Maria Bartiromo in June 2018 that there was some ‘confusion’ as to how information about Spygate made it from a ranking Australian official to the United States. We noted:
It looks like the story former Australian Ambassador Alexander Downer told about the state date of the Spygate probe was, um, not correct, regarding the Papadopoulos information he said he gave to the Australian ambassador in the U.S.
Nunes, who appeared on “Sunday Morning Futures” with Maria Bartiromo of Fox Business Network, said the story and the intelligence he has seen don’t match.
“We know that the counterintelligence investigation was opened in July,” he told Bartiromo.
“Well, that’s fine so if that’s all the information you have then why are there all of these strange activities leading up to late July, particularly in the spring?”
“I’m trying to understand this because you broke the news on this program more than a month ago that you’ve looked for reasons and catalysts to understand how an investigation was opened and launched into the Trump campaign,” she replied.
“And you said to us, based on the Five Eyes Intelligence of all of our partners across the world, that there was NO intelligence that you could find that launched that investigation…”
Nunes said new information has been found that the Pravda media is dutifully ignoring.
“So The New York Times has reported in the past that the Australian ambassador, the Australian High Commissioner, is the one that brought this to the attention of the United States government. Now typically that would have gone through FBI channels, it would have gone through the embassy in London, it would have come across officially,” Nunes said.
“It would have come across the pond officially. And it didn’t. And that’s what we would like to have seen,” he continued.
“Now this week we now know that Mr. Downer, the former Australian ambassador, high commissioner in London, said that he had given the information to the Australian ambassador in the U.S. Well, now we know that that’s not true,” he said.
“So, Mr. Downer now has claimed that in an Australian newspaper. But we now know from sources that have now spoken to different media outlets that the Australians are denying that that’s how this happened. The Australian ambassador in the United States had nothing to do with this…”
Which means, it came from Australia in a different, non-traditional, deep state-sort of way.
This all suggests Five Eyes cooperation.
And mind you, shortly after he joined the 2016 Trump campaign, Papadopoulos was lured to London by Joseph Mifsud, who claimed he had ‘damaging information’ on the Clinton campaign.
It was later at a London bar that Papadopoulos would drunkenly pass the rumor to Australian diplomat Alexander Downer (who FBI agent Peter Strzok flew to London to meet with the day after Operation Crossfire Hurricane — Spygate — was launched).
Two weeks after that, Papadopoulos would be pumped for info by Australian diplomat (another Clinton ally) Alexander Downer at a London bar, who would relay the Russia rumor to Australian authorities, which alerted the FBI (as the story goes), which ‘officially’ kicked off the US intelligence investigation.
— As for Ukraine, a Ukrainian court ruled in December that the country meddled in the US election when they revealed details of suspected illegal payments to former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort.
We cited a report from The Hill‘s John Solomon, published late Thursday:
In its most detailed account yet, Ukraine’s embassy in Washington says a Democratic National Committee insider during the 2016 election solicited dirt on Donald Trump’s campaign chairman and even tried to enlist the country’s president to help.
In written answers to questions, Ambassador Valeriy Chaly’s office says DNC contractor Alexandra Chalupa sought information from the Ukrainian government on Paul Manafort’s dealings inside the country, in hopes of forcing the issue before Congress.
Chalupa later tried to arrange for Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko to comment on Manafort’s Russian ties on a U.S. visit during the 2016 campaign, the ambassador said.
Chaly says that, at the time of the contacts in 2016, the embassy knew Chalupa primarily as a Ukrainian-American activist, and learned only later of her ties to the DNC. He says the embassy considered her requests an inappropriate solicitation of interference in the U.S. election.
A week ago, POTUS Trump’s personal lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, actually met with a former Ukrainian diplomat, Andril Telizhenko, who has suggested in the past that the Democratic National Committee, which was being run, essentially, by the Clinton campaign during the 2016 election cycle, worked with the Kiev government to dig up ‘dirt’ on then-candidate Trump.
Giuliani told the Washington Post in a Friday interview that Telizhenko “was in Washington and he came up to New York, and we spent most of the afternoon together,” adding “When I have something to say, I’ll say it.”
AG Barr, by the way, will be visiting the UK next month. He’s been empowered by POTUS to look into all of this.
