Mueller report details how Russia ‘helped Trump’ by targeting Hillary…but the ‘Russia dossier’ was ALL Kremlin, and it HELPED Clinton
One of the biggest misconceptions regarding ‘Russian interference’ in the 2016 election is that the Kremlin was all in for Donald Trump and all out for Hillary Clinton.
But this narrative is just that — a misconception — refuted not only by the facts of the case but by evidence hiding in plain view.
As noted by Task & Purpose, the redacted version of special counsel Robert Mueller’s report released Thursday by Attorney General William Barr provides at least some details regarding incidents where Russian intelligence supposedly hacked into various databases in an effort to steal information that would benefit the 2016 Trump campaign:
The Russians are not the only game in town when it comes to cyberwarfare, Acting Defense Secretary Patrick Shanahan said on Thursday amid revelations in the Mueller report about how Russian intelligence officers interfered with the 2016 presidential election.
Released on Thursday, a redacted copy of the report details how the GRU – Russian military intelligence – broke into government, company, and personal computers to steal a treasure trove of information that was used to smear Hillary Clinton. …
The Mueller report shows how GRU units waged a campaign aimed at tilting the 2016 election in then-candidate Donald Trump’s favor. The Russians ultimately released hundreds of thousands of documents to Wikileaks and other organizations to interfere with the presidential election.
GRU Military Units 26165 and 74455 were involved with the hacking of the Clinton campaign, the Democratic National Committee, and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, the report says.
“Military Unit 26165 is a GRU cyber unit dedicated to targeting military, political, governmental, and non-governmental organizations outside of Russia, including in the United States,” the report says. “The unit was sub-divided into departments with different specialties. One department, for example, developed, specialized malicious software (‘malware’), while another department conducted large-scale spear phishing campaigns.”
“Military Unit 74455 is a related GRU unit with multiple departments that engaged in cyber operations. Unit 74455 assisted in the release of documents stolen by Unit 26165, the promotion of those releases, and the publication of anti-Clinton content on social media accounts operated by the GRU. Officers from Unit 74455 separately hacked computers belonging to state boards of elections, secretaries of state, and U.S. companies that supplied software and other technology related to the administration of elections.”
Conspicuously missing from this assessment is the fact that themost influential act of alleged espionage conducted on behalf of a certain campaign during the 2016 election cycle came not from hacked emails — that is, if they even were hacked — but from information supplied by Russian operatives to a former British spy, Christopher Steele.
The so-called “Russia dossier” that he assembled was not aimed at disrupting or hurting Clinton’s campaign; rather, it was designed to disrupt and derail Trump’s campaign. In fact, as we now know, the dossier was paid for by the Clinton campaign and the DNC and commissioned by a Democrat-aligned “opposition research firm,” Fusion GPS, whose officials were involved in another anti-Trump operation — the “Trump Tower” honeypot setup involving a Russian lawyer.
Three of the eight people at the Trump Tower meeting were associated with Fusion, The Gateway Pundit notes:
— Donald Trump Jr.
— Jared Kushner (left early)
— Paul Manafort
— Natalia Veselnitskaya (Fusion GPS)
— Anatoli Samochornov (translator and Fusion GPS)
— Rinat Akhmetshin (lobbyist – Fusion GPS)
— Rob Goldstone
— Rep. of the Agalarov Family
It’s also important to remember that Veselnitskaya met with Fusion founder Glenn Simpson before and after the Trump Tower meeting in NYC.
One other thing: According to “Footnote 112,” the Mueller report also clearly documents the fact that the dossier was phony — and everyone involved in the investigation knew it.
In particular, the infamous accusation that then-private citizen Donald Trump, in 2013 while in Moscow for the Miss USA contest, found out he was staying in the same room President Obama and the first lady stayed in at one point, so he had hookers come in and urinate on the bed (the “golden showers” claim).
Top talker Rush Limbaugh noted Thursday:
The pee tape story in this report is recognized as fake. Does that not blow up everything because that’s all they ever had to go get these warrants to spy on Trump? I know, I know. Many of you have heard this so many times, you’re probably getting sick of it. But this is how many times it’s gonna take, and we’re not finished.
The Mueller report itself documents that the Steele dossier is fake! And that’s all there ever was. Why is that not one of the lead headlines? And the reason is is because Mueller has already concluded there wasn’t any collusion, so now the effort is underway to rewrite what Mueller says in this report about his inability to conclude whether or not Trump obstructed justice.
The fake dossier, Limbaugh notes, was used by the FBI — James Comey’s FBI — to get FISA warrants so the Obama regime and the FBI/DoJ after Obama left office could spy on one-time Trump campaign advisor Carter Page and, by his contact with other campaign staffers, everyone else.
Steele was given his information for the dossier from Russian sources who may have known what he was doing or may have been in on trying to sabotage Trump.
Not only was the dossier and the plot behind it aimed at Trump, not Clinton, it has been far more damaging not just to Trump’s presidency but, perhaps, to foreign policy, trust in government, and trust in our governing institutions.
For Mueller and his Democrat lackeys to continue claiming that the Russians were only plotting against Clinton is disgustingly dishonest.
