BREAKING! Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen informed President Trump on Sunday that she would be resigning in the wake of his administration’s sudden decision to drop the nomination of the leading candidate to head the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
“Secretary of Homeland Security Kirstjen Nielsen will be leaving her position, and I would like to thank her for her service….” Trump tweeted.
Trump announced that U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Commissioner Kevin McAleenan will replace Nielsen.
“I am pleased to announce that Kevin McAleenan, the current U.S. Customs and Border Protection Commissioner, will become Acting Secretary for @DHSgov. I have confidence that Kevin will do a great job!”

Fox News reports that Nielsen met with Trump at the White House Sunday amid an ongoing influx of migrants at the U.S.-Mexico border that has been taxing America’s immigration system and sparking frustration within the White House. The Associated Press, citing two sources, reported Sunday that Nielsen had been frustrated with the difficulty of getting other departments to help deal with the growing number of families crossing the southwestern border.
Nielsen skipped last week’s meeting of interior ministers from the Group of Seven in Paris to deal with the migration crisis, which she compared to the aftermath of a Category 5 hurricane.
She also has taken to social media in recent days, tweeting that Congress must give border and immigration officials the tools and resources needed to “fulfill our humanitarian and security mission.”
She visited El Paso, Texas, on Wednesday, marking her first stop on a border tour aimed at assessing the surge of migrants and the department’s response. “Our system and facilities were never structured to withstand the current influx of immigrants,” she said.
On Friday, Trump confirmed he had withdrawn the nomination of acting Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Director Ron Vitiello to become the permanent head of the agency, telling reporters that “Ron’s a good man, but we’re going in a tougher direction, we want to go in a tougher direction.”
There is no doubt that Nielsen had her hands full and has had absolutely no support from the filthy MS-13 loving dems.
Trump means business and WILL get the job done.
We have redeployed 750 agents at the Southern Border’s specific Ports of Entry in order to help with the large scale surge of illegal migrants trying to make their way into the United States. This will cause traffic & commercial delays until such time as Mexico is able to use….

….it’s powerful common sense Immigration Laws to stop illegals from coming through Mexico into the U.S., and removing them back to their country of origin. Until Mexico cleans up this ridiculous & massive migration, we will be focusing on Border Security, not Ports of Entry….

….In the meantime, the Democrats in Congress must help the Republicans (we need their votes) to end the horrible, costly and foolish loopholes in our Immigration Laws. Once that happens, all will be smooth. We can NEVER allow Open Borders!

WE WILL STOP THIS CRISIS WITH OR WITHOUT THE DEMOCRATS.
We’d like to thank Ms. Nielsen for her relentless efforts in such a dire situation.
Frankly, this was definitely (in my opinion) the most frustrating thing she has had to deal with in her entire life.
God Bless.
