The Mexican El Universal news outlet is reporting that more than 14,000 Hondurans — not counting people from other countries who are marching toward the United States — are leaving that Central American nation to seek asylum here.
The news outlet reported that “municipal authorities,” the Catholic Diocese in the Mexican city of Tapachula, and the Mexican National Migration Institute (INM) provided the 14,000 figure, Breitbart reports.
A spokesman from the Department of Homeland Security on Tuesday said the agency could confirm that there are individuals in the caravan who are gang members or have significant criminal histories. The spokesman also confirmed Trump’s claim that some are citizens from outside Central America, like the Middle East.
Trump has declared the first migrant caravan a “national emergency” and has threatened to cut millions in aid to El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras for their inability to stop migrants from “coming illegally to the U.S.”
“Sadly, it looks like Mexico’s Police and Military are unable to stop the Caravan heading to the Southern Border of the United States. Criminals and unknown Middle Easterners are mixed in. I have alerted Border Patrol and Military that this is a National Emergy. Must change laws!”

President Donald Trump has condemned what most sources cite as more than 7,000 migrants forcing their way through Mexico to their final destination, the United States as the 2nd wave starts growing in Honduras.
Guatemalan authorities on Sunday said that they expect 3,000 to 4,000 more people to begin the trip soon to the Mexican border with the United States.
The first question, whether Trump can close the border, is a simple one to answer: yes.
“You can certainly stop entries coming across the border, whether its truck traffic or cars or pedestrians,” said Gil Kerlikowske, former commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection. “Logistically, that’s possible. The gates are closed, and you say, ‘Right now we’re not taking entry.
The Posse Comitatus Act limits the Guard troops to acting only in support of the U.S. Border Patrol, and state and local law enforcement officers.
The Posse Comitatus Act of 1878 prohibits the use of U.S. military forces to perform the tasks of civilian law enforcement such as arrest, apprehension, interrogation, and detention unless explicitly authorized by Congress.
The president, under his or her constitutional powers to put down insurrection, rebellion, or invasion, may declare martial law when local law enforcement and court systems have ceased to function.
Simply closing the border will not work, these are caravans of thousands of people that will not stop until they have flooded over our border, so now we have to wait and see how the President chooses to stop the illegals.
