Iran announced its breakthrough missile capabilities that may put U.S. vessels in jeopardy.
A senior Iranian official confirmed Tuesday that Iranian land-to-sea missiles can now strike any ship at a distance of more than 400 miles, though they maintain their missiles are solely for defensive uses, Reuters reported Tuesday.
“We have managed to make land-to-sea ballistic, not cruise, missiles that can hit any vessel or ship from 700 km (435 miles),” said Amirali Hajizadeh, head of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps’ (IRGC) air space division) American Military News
U.S. President Donald Trump pulled out of an international agreement on Iran’s nuclear program in May and reimposed sanctions on Tehran, saying the deal was flawed because it did not include curbs on Iran’s development of ballistic missiles or its support for proxies in Syria, Yemen, Lebanon and Iraq.
Iran, which says its missile program is purely defensive, has threatened to disrupt oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz in the Gulf if the United States tries to strangle Iranian oil exports.

Tehran has dismissed negotiations with Washington over Iran’s military capabilities. It also denies that its activities are brewing instability in the Middle East.

When President Trump first directed his Administration to address the Iran deal’s serious flaws in October 2017, he identified three key deficiencies: the sunset clauses, the inspections regime, and, this “near total silence on Iran’s missile program.”
This last issue – Iran’s missile program – is what I want to discuss with you today.
Iran has the largest ballistic missile force in the Middle East, with more than 10 ballistic missile systems in its inventory or in development.
Its ballistic missile program remains among the most significant challenges to broader nonproliferation efforts in the region and is an enduring threat to our allies and partners, including Israel.
As tensions continue to rise, mainstream media has switched winds as they continue to ignore real world issues.
