Russia is moving troops and missiles into Libya in a bid to enforce a new stranglehold on the West, British prime minister Theresa May has been warned, FOX NEWS/ The Sun reports.

Intelligence chiefs have told Mrs May that Vladimir Putin wants to make the wartorn North African country “his new Syria” and seizing control of the biggest illegal immigration route to Europe is seen as Moscow’s primary goal.

The UK intelligence agencies have reportedly warned Prime Minister Theresa May that Russia is sending weapons and troops to Libya in order to turn the North African country into a “new Syria,” an allegation that is likely to further muddy the waters between Moscow and London.

The report caused uproar among members of the UK parliament, prompting senior MPs to call for government action.

“It’s is extremely alarming Russia wants to open up a new front against the West in Libya, but it should also come as no surprise, We need a coordinated government response because the destabilization of a sub-Saharan country is intimately linked to UK national security.” ~ Commons Foreign Affairs committee chairman Tom Tugendhat.

Russia’s devastating Kalibr anti-ship missiles and state of the art S300 air defence missile systems are also now believed to be on the ground in Libya.

The Kremlin has sided with Libya’s most powerful warlord, General Khalifa Haftar, and is also supplying his troops with heavy equipment.

Haftar – who leads the Libyan National Army – is the defacto military ruler of much of Eastern Libya.

The S-300 deployment is viewed as a “token capability” and suggesting that the Pentagon might employ its F-22s and F-16CJ Vipers to suppress or destroy Syria’s air defenses.
“Right now, a war of words is taking place. I am absolutely certain that neither the Israelis nor the Americans will attack the S-300s while Russian specialists are on duty, engaged in training the Syrian forces. However, they may very well try to destroy them as soon as they are handed over to the Syrian military.” ~ Khodaryonok
This comes as Assad mocks the United States and claims that the United States has failed and will have to leave Syria:

“The Russian-Turkish deal to prevent an offensive by Syrian troops to liberate Idlib is a temporary one but has served to prevent bloodshed.  Threats against a Syrian offensive in Idlib, such objections were hysterical.  The victory by the Syrian Army would foil the West’s aggressive plans to divide Syria.” ~ Assad
