U.S. President Donald Trump will fail in his confrontation with Iran, just like Iraq’s Saddam Hussein, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said on Saturday, referring to the war between the two Middle Eastern powers and vowing that Tehran will not abandon its missiles, Reuters reports.
Tensions have ramped up between Iran and the United States after Trump withdrew from a landmark multilateral nuclear deal in May and reimposed sanctions on the Islamic Republic last month.
The Iranian leader, referring to the 1980-88 war between the two Middle Eastern powers, also vowed that Tehran will not abandon its missiles despite US pressure.
“The same will happen to Trump. America will suffer the same fate as Saddam Hussein! Iran will not abandon its defensive weapons … including its missiles that make America so angry.” ~ Iranian President Hassan Rouhani
Rouhani’s TV speech come a day after Iran’s Foreign Minister Javad Zarif hit out at the Trump administration for being a “real threat”.
“It is true that there is a real threat to our region and to international peace and security. That threat is the Trump Administration’s sense of entitlement to destabilize the world along with rogue accomplices in our region, The US must start acting like a normal state.” Zarif
The American public chooses to ignore these threats as if the global community is raining skittles and rainbows abound everywhere. Instead we need to embrace the truth and understand that if these situations go sideways, it is our brothers and sisters in uniform that will be on the front line.
It is clear that Iran views the United States as it’s enemy and the United States views Iran as a terrorist nation that is a serious threat.
The State Department’s annual survey of global terrorism accused Iran of intensifying numerous conflicts and trying to undermine governments throughout the Middle East and beyond. Iran’s “terrorist affiliates and proxies,” the report said, “demonstrated a near-global terrorist reach.”
