Ayatollah Khamenei—the Commander-in-Chief of Iran’s Armed Forces—met with a group of commanders and officials from of the Khatam Al-Anbia Air Defense Base of the Army, Khamenei.ir reports.
At this meeting, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution called the air defense base a very crucial part of the Armed Forces, placed at the frontline of confronting the enemies of Iran. He then stressed the importance of accelerating the capabilities of the base and the Air Forces staff.
During the meeting, which was organized on the anniversary of the National Day of Air Forces, Ayatollah Khamenei asserted: In terms of political calculations, there is no chance of a military war; however, the armed forces must accelerate their human and equipment capabilities day by day, through vigilance, efficient and agile management, remembering that every step they take toward reinforcing the Armed Forces capabilities, is a good deed and an act of worship to God the Exalted.
Ayatollah Khamenei released the statement as Iran announced plans to increase its ballistic- and cruise-missile capacity and acquire modern jet fighters and submarines amid rising tensions with the United States.
The United States and its Western allies have also demanded that Iran end its military support for Syrian President Bashar al-Assad as Iran vowed to bolster Assad’s military and provide him with more finances and military equipment.
