Iran displayed a new fighter jet Tuesday, saying it comes with advanced avionics and fire control systems and will enhance its deterrence capabilities in confronting Washington.
The aircraft is dubbed Kowsar, which in Islamic meaning refers to a river in paradise and is also the title of a chapter in the Muslim holy book, the Koran, Fox News reports.
On Saturday, Iranian Defense Minister Amir Hatami announced the unveiling ceremony of the new aircraft, noting that Iran was acting within the framework of the active deterrence strategy to “acquire whatever is necessary for defense.” The Minister added that Tehran would also continue developing new missiles.

It also uses digital military data networks, multi-purpose digital monitors, ballistic calculation computers and smart mobile mapping systems.
The jet has an advanced radar system, enabling it to detect enemy targets. It is also equipped with a head-up display or HUD, which promotes precision targeting.
The plane can be manufactured in both single- and double-cockpit types, the latter of which can be used for advanced pilot training missions in addition to its combat capability, according to Fars news agency.
Iran has been building up their military and moving their military assets to certain borders in recent months, for what they believe will be the United States attacks and they claim they are not provoking in any way.
Iran already has U.S.-made F-4, F-5 as well as F-14 fighter jets and also Russian-made Sukhoi aircraft in service.
