Dulles CBP Arrests Austrian Attempted Murder Suspect
STERLING, Va. — U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers arrested a Swedish man wanted on attempted murder charges in Austria at Washington Dulles International Airport Wednesday.
CBP officers arrested Mamodou Secka, 40, of Farsta, Sweden, after Secka deplaned from a flight from Switzerland. Officers biometrically verified Secka’s identity and confirmed the warrant with INTERPOL.
CBP officers arranged for Secka to fly to Paris, France Thursday where French authorities took him into custody.
“This arrest illustrates Customs and Border Protection’s close cooperation with our international law enforcement partners to return an allegedly dangerous fugitive to justice,” said Casey Durst, CBP’s Director of the Baltimore Field Office. “Arresting wanted fugitives at our nation’s ports of entry is one way in which CBP helps to keep our communities safe.”
INTERPOL is the world’s largest international police organization, with 192 member countries. Member countries work together to make the world a safer place by preventing and fighting crime through enhanced cooperation and innovation on police and security matters.
