Three-time Super Bowl champion Erik Williams’ son was arrested and charged with two counts of capital murder in connection with the shooting deaths of two people in a Dallas suburb, Fox News reports.
Cassius Shakembe Williams, 20, and another man, Rozman Rah-saan Shannon Jr., both of Garland, Texas, were charged in connection with the fatal shooting of Jacob Bradley Hollett, 19 and Dalton James Prater, 18, the Star-Telegram reported.
The Mesquite Police Department received several reports of gunfire in the area of Gus Thomasson Road at Whitson Way, according to Mesquite police.
Upon arrival, officers located two gunshot victims. Hollett, 19, of Mesquite was found with several gunshot wounds in the driver’s seat of a gray Nissan. Nearby, Prater, 18, of Fate was found shot to death sitting in the driver’s seat of a red Dodge pickup truck. Hollett was transported to a local hospital where he died from his injuries.
Williams and Shannon have been charged with two counts of capital murder. Their bonds are set at $1 million each, The Star reported.
Officials believe the victims were attempting to sell marijuana to Williams and his friend, when the buyers pulled out guns and demanded they hand over the weed.
Shots were fired and the two alleged dealers were killed.
Capital murder is essentially the same as 1st degree murder — and if convicted, it carries the death penalty.
Williams is a former football player himself — who was a 6’1″, 290 lb defensive tackle at Central State University.
His father, Erik Williams, was a 3-time Super Bowl champ with the Dallas Cowboys — where he was also a 4-time Pro Bowler as an offensive lineman, TMZ reports.
