Rio Grande Valley Border Patrol agent attacked by marijuana smugglers
The agent responded to a report of four men scaling the border fence with what appeared to be bundles of narcotics. As the agent approached the men, they abandoned the bundles and began running toward the Rio Grande.
While gathering the bundles, the four subjects began throwing rocks at the agent from the south side of the border fence.
The agent avoided being struck by the rocks and safely recovered four bundles of marijuana weighing approximately 87 pounds with a value of nearly $70K. The four men absconded back into Mexico.
The narcotics were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
