Las Vegas police have launched a manhunt for The Venetian casino-resort employee who killed a co-worker and injured another person in a targeted shooting at a park during the weekend, authorities said.

Anthony Wrobel, 42, walked up to a table in the gazebo area occupied by an executive and an employee of The Venetian and shot them at close range, police said. Wrobel was described as a disgruntled worker of the casino-resort where he was employed for the last 14 years, police said. Fox News

Sources with the Venetian say Banks was sitting alongside Hector Rodriguez, the Sands Corporation Executive Director of table games. The two were enjoying a company picnic at Sunset Park on Sunday evening.

Banks’ neighbors can’t believe she was shot and killed.

“It’s awful; you just don’t know anymore. You still have to do your job. You have to do what you do at work, and to think someone would be that upset is not right,” says Connie Ballard, a neighbor of Banks. NBC Vegas 3

Sources tell 8 News NOW the suspected gunman killed Mia Banks, Vice President of Gaming Operations at the Venetian and Palazzo hotels and critically injured Hector Rodriguez, the Executive Director of Table Games at the Venetian and Palazzo hotels.

Metro Police said Wrobel, a Venetian employee for 14 years, ambushed the company picnic. After walking up to the event, investigators said the disgruntled employee pulled out a gun and targeted a table with hotel executives before running away.

“He didn’t say a word, not one word,” Drake said. “She was right here, and he got her right in the head.”

Drake adds the gunman shot Rodriguez in the stomach, who is currently in critical condition.

The gunman fled after the shootings and ran to the parking lot, he jumped into a black and purple Dodge Charger and left the scene.

Metro is calling this an isolated incident of workplace violence.

Anyone with information about Wrobel’s whereabouts is asked to call 911 immediately or the LVMPD Homicide Section at 702-828-3521. Tips can also be phoned into Crimestoppers at 702-385-5555.
