A New Jersey thug has been arrested and accused of kidnapping and murdering a man trying to buy a PlayStation video game console that was advertised online, according to multiple reports.
Fox News reports that Rufus Thompson, 29, was arrested Saturday morning in Trenton. He is charged with murder, felony murder, robbery, kidnapping and weapons offenses in the death of 20-year-old Danny Diaz-Delgado.
The Trentonian reported that Diaz-Delgado’s body was found March 24 near the banks of Assunpink Creek in Hamilton Township. Investigators said Diaz-Delgado’s hands were tied behind his back and tape was wrapped around his face. He had been shot at least seven times in the head, torso and leg.
He was found face-down and shot execution style in the head.
The Trentonian both reported, citing police sources, that Diaz-Delgado was trying to buy a PlayStation that was advertised on social media when he disappeared. According to the Trentonian, investigators believe Thompson tortured Diaz-Delgado in an attempt to extract more money from him.
Sources say Diaz-Delgado was buying a game system for his little brother and believed he had found a good deal. He planned to meet two people that day: One who was selling the console and another who was selling video games. He never made it to the second meeting because he was killed during the first.
Diaz-Delgado, according to police sources, withdrew money from the bank and met the seller of the game console who kidnapped him and tortured him in the woods while demanding more money.
Police believe that the kidnapper used torture tactics to coerce Diaz-Delgado into giving up his debit card PIN before getting murdered, law-enforcement sources said, adding the suspect then used the victim’s bank card to withdraw additional money from the bank.
