President Donald Trump announced on Twitter on Friday that he was considering a veto of the omnibus spending bill. But he ended up reluctantly passing the “ridiculous” bill.
Fox News reports that Trump signed the mammoth legislation reluctantly, saying in a press availability with other members of the administration that, in order to secure a necessary increase in military spending, he had to give money to Democratic projects that he derided as a “wasted sum of money.”
“It’s not right and it’s very bad for our country,” he said.
But he said that military spending was very important, and that concern overrode his thoughts about vetoing the legislation.
“Therefore, as a matter of national security, I’ve signed this omnibus budget bill. There are a lot of things I’m unhappy about in this bill…But I say to Congress, I will never sign another bill like this again. I’m not going to do it again,” he said.
He also called on Congress to end the filibuster in the Senate and to give him a line item veto.
“To prevent the omnibus situation from ever happening again, I’m calling on Congress to give me a line item veto for all government spending bills,” he said. “And the Senate must end — they must end — the filibuster rule and get down to work.”
Breitbart reported that Trump wrote on Twitter on Friday morning:
“I am considering a VETO of the Omnibus Spending Bill based on the fact that the 800,000 plus DACA recipients have been totally abandoned by the Democrats (not even mentioned in Bill) and the BORDER WALL, which is desperately needed for our National Defense, is not fully funded.”
The Democrats have blocked National Security once again and it has President Trump frustrated. The President absolutely should not sign this bill if he believes it is not in the best interest of the United States of America and our national security.
The bill is a fat 1.3 TRILLION dollars that the United States cannot simply gamble away in hopes that some form of good will come of it.

“Let’s cut right to the chase: Is the President going to sign the bill? The answer is yes,” White House budget director Mick Mulvaney
If Trump decided to veto the deal, it would almost certainly mean the government would have shut down late Friday when the deadline to fund the government runs out.
Congress could override the veto, but it would need two-thirds of the House and Senate. The bill passed 62-35 in the Senate and 256-167 in the House, both short of two-thirds. Republicans would also be wary of overriding a veto by a Republican president, Fox News reported.
The spending bill passed Congress includes only $1.6 billion for border measures — much of which is for repairs to already existing fencing. It explicitly rules out any new prototypes of the kind President Trump viewed this month in California.
Conservative members of Congress, object to the size and cost of the bill as well as the failure to remove funding for Planned Parenthood and so-called “sanctuary cities.”
While other Republicans approved of the bill, due to the extreme increase in military and infrastructure spending as well as funding to help combat the nation’s opioid crisis.
This is a defining moment in Trumps Presidency, he has been fighting to get National Security along our borders and removing illegal aliens from our country. This has been his mantra from the start, so we must hope that the President laces up and stands his ground.
Some of the “Key” propositions in the Bill VIA Fox News:
President Trump didn’t get every penny he wanted for his border security plan, but a solution for those under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program aren’t going to find reprieve in the bill either.
The bill includes $1.57 billion for barriers along the border. Democrats seemed willing to concede on that funding, but dug in their heels against Trump’s plan to hire hundreds of new Border Patrol and immigration enforcement agents.
The bill does include incremental steps to curb gun violence, including the so-called “Fix NICS” measure which would strengthen the background check system.
The measure to fix the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS), would provide additional funding to agencies and states that comply with the system. Those that did not, would be penalized.
More than $2 billion was also allocated to train school officials and law enforcement officers to identify signs of potential violence so they would be able to intervene earlier. This money, to improve school safety, would also be used to install metal detectors.
When Republicans pushed their $1.5 trillion tax bill last year, they did so in such a quick manner that it included mistakes. One of those mistakes was language that accidentally gave farmers a higher tax advantage if they sold crops to cooperatives as opposed to other buyers.
The spending bill fixed some of these mistakes. Democrats were able to get on board with the fix in exchange for expanded tax credits for low-income housing.
The spending bill leaves out two provisions included in a previous House plan that would dismantle the Johnson Amendment, the 1954 tax law that protects charitable, philanthropic and religious organizations from partisan politicking.
Another epic mess that is engulfed with twists and lies by the Democrats, the blunt truth is we know they do not want the wall, they demand DACA and sanctuary states for illegals.
We all know that congress is filled with corruption and scandals, President Trump is battling daily to secure American borders.
