The war in Afghanistan, going on 17 years now, is the longest-running war in US history, in which the Taliban continue to win, regardless of what the mainstream media tells you.
The Pentagon is expected to intensify its campaign in Afghanistan by expanding the use of drones and deploying an estimated 1,000 advisers to accompany the Afghan troops on combat missions, Breitbart reports.
If you truly want to understand the truth on the conflict in Afghanistan, you need to clear your mind of what you have been told on the news and mainstream media.
According to the Wall Street Journal (WSJ):
The idea is to bulk up the U.S. military presence in Afghanistan by the time the traditional fighting season begins in the spring. The military will send a larger number of drones, both armed and unarmed, to Afghanistan for air support as well as for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance.
The Pentagon also plans to bolster capabilities such as helicopters, ground vehicles, artillery and related materiel, U.S. officials said, moves made possible by a reduction of combat operations in Syria and Iraq against the Islamic State extremist group.
The importance of what the WSJ reported is the, “fighting season” in Afghanistan, which happens every year.
Springtime in Afghanistan brings a renewed energy and fight from the Taliban, the snow is melting and the Opium Poppy harvest is over, the time for bloodshed begins.
Generally in late April, early May is when the Taliban begin their fighting with the United States military, which during the winter months have been busy smuggling in weapons from Pakistan.
The United States military has been training the ANS (Afghanistan National Security Forces) to allow the Afghanistan military to lead the way in fighting for their country against the Taliban.
As previously reported by Breitbart, The United States military wants to ramp up its campaign against the Taliban, the Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL), and other jihadist groups in Afghanistan beyond the fighting season and into the winter months, declared the top American commander in the Middle East and South Asia.
The blunt truth on the war in Afghanistan is that over the 17 years, the people of Afghanistan have not only lost faith in the US military but have evolved into hating the United States and our troops on the ground.
Late last year, SOD Mattis said the United States Military would be taking a different approach to the war in Afghanistan. Following was a report released by Reuters:
“We are taking a regional approach to this,” Mattis told the House Armed Services Committee. “We will take that forward to the president for a decision very soon.”
Mattis said a request by General John Nicholson, the head of U.S. and international forces in Afghanistan, for additional troops would mostly be made up of troops who would train, advise and assist Afghan forces, potentially putting them with Afghan forces at the brigade level.
The blunt truth is that the U.S. military has been in this role for a few years now, where our military plays more of a back-up and assist role to the Afghan military forces.
The speculation on why President Trump is sending an additional 1,000 troops on top of the 4,000 from 2017, is more to do with Iran that the Taliban in Afghanistan.
A report by Fox News released information on the President’s administration and military thought process concerning Iran and Iran’s nuclear deal with the United States.
“Despite my strong inclination, I have not yet withdrawn the United States from the Iran nuclear deal. Instead, I have outlined two possible paths forward: either fix the deal’s disastrous flaws, or the United States will withdraw,” Trump said.
“This is a last chance,” Trump warned. “In the absence of such an agreement, the United States will not again waive sanctions in order to stay in the Iran nuclear deal. And if at any time I judge that such an agreement is not within reach, I will withdraw from the deal immediately.”
He added, “No one should doubt my word.”
The bottom line is that as long as we have troops in Afghanistan and American military forward OP Bases, then we have the opportunity to use kinetic energy strikes against Iran, should Iran continue to abuse the nuclear agreement.
