What’s next, will they insist the racist slave owners Jefferson and Washington be removed from Mount Rushmore? Things are getting way out of control! Liberals and scumbags are running a muck screaming about racism and pushing their one-sided agenda.
We have people who have been dead for over a hundred years being DUG UP from their resting places for God’s sake! We have people who have always looked at the flag as a sign of freedom and rebellion being labeled as racist. Now even more ridiculous demands are coming from the Georgia NAACP.
The Atlanta Chapter of the NAACP is calling for the removal of the Confederacy from Stone Mountain Park. Local chapter president Richard Rose says, “It is time for Georgia and other Southern states to end the glorification of slavery and white supremacy, paid for and maintained, with the taxes of all its citizens.” According to Rose, “all of this recognition of Confederate generals is upholding the white supremacy on which the Confederacy was founded and the war was fought.” He goes on to say, “all of this should have ended in 1865 when Lee surrendered to Appomattox.” He’s referring to, what historians refer to as, one of the last battles before Confederate Army General Robert Lee surrendered to Union Army Lt. Ulysses Grant on April 9, 1865.
Recent debate about the emblems was sparked by the mass killings at Emanuel A.M.E. Church in Charleston, South Carolina. Alleged gunman Dylann Roof was seen in photographs posing with the Confederate Flag. While some consider the flag as a commemoration of their heritage, others consider it a symbol of hate. South Carolina removed the flag from its statehouse grounds.
Rose calls it “unfair, unfortunate, and unconscionable for the State of Georgia and any other government to continue to commemorate and spend taxpayer dollars in upholding and preserving Confederate monuments and symbols including the flag.” On any government property, Rose says, “those symbols should be eradicated”.
Well dude, you need to bone up on the law. Stone Mountain is protected by state law as a Confederate memorial. That’s right baby!
“The law that changed the flag to our current state flag also expressly prohibited changes at Stone Mountain Park,” officials say. “Some on both sides of these issues have said that these Confederate symbols belong in a museum. Here in Georgia, Stone Mountain Park serves that purpose.”
I have a news flash for the uninformed. Lee opposed slavery and also opposed succession. He reluctantly answered the call to fight only when asked by his native Virginia. He never owned slaves outright, he only inherited them from his father-in-law and freed them after a period. So what is the problem with Lee, never mind, like I stated it’s the uninformed.
The Lee attacks remind me of Nathan Bedford Forrest and how people only mention that he started the KKK. Too often they leave out that he left the group when they became too radical. He was also the first white man to speak at an NAACP rally. I can’t stress enough just how much people need to research before opening their mouth!
Maybe it’s an impossible request for some but please read your history. You will find out that more people from the north owned slaves than those from the south. The Civil War had nothing to do with slavery (it was just a convenient excuse used). Actually the Confederate States were fighting against BIG Government, as we find ourselves doing once again today.
How about we mention Native Americans in this conversation. Many have been killed in different ways since the other races come to this country. My point is you don’t hear the Native Americans crying about removing the history in which so many suffered, why are the African American’s doing so. Do you not understand that the generations before you gave so much for you and the future generation needs to know the whole story. Someone needs to get their history books out, look down in your family history, and there will be a story that needs to be told. Come on people get a grip! If you destroy, or put in the closet, the actions that has brought us to this point, so much will be lost.
